The National Commission of Arts & Letters was established in 1973 by Delta Sigma Theta's 15th National President, Lillian P. Benbow, and co-chaired by renowned Deltas Leontyne Price and Lena Horne. The Federal City Alumnae Chapter (TheFCAC) Arts & Letters Committee showcases and promotes the love of all artistic expressions.
TheFCAC Arts & Letters Committee, which aligns with the National Commission on Arts and Letters, collaborates and supports events driven by our Sorority's 5-Point Programmatic Thrust. The Arts & Letters Committee strives to boldly advance the black experience by highlighting the artistic contributions of African-American people of the past and present elevating them to public attention through the medium of music, dance, drama, and poetry. Our overarching goal is to ensure that the people in our communities have opportunities to participate and be exposed to projects, events and activities designed to acknowledge and highlight the contributions of African Americans in various art forms.
